116th Gargrave Show Cancelled for 2020 Sheep Dog Trials Cancelled for 2020 (Free entry for Spectators)

New Funding Received:

The committee would sincerely like to thank the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority’s Sustainable Development Fund whose grant has enabled the purchase of reusable walkway mats.  The 30 mats, made from 100% recycled plastics, will enable us to protect the entrances and walkways on the showfield. Our plan is to protect the showfield and the environment by reducing the impact of hundreds of visitors who come to the annual show held on farmland in front of Eshton Hall, Gargrave.  It will allow visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of the landscape and maintain the field so that it recovers faster and reverts to farmland as soon as possible after the show day. The mats provide reusable ground cover which can be stored and used each year. It will generate a legacy of good farm management of grasslands whilst allowing the public to enjoy the landscape and agricultural /horticultural show. It will enable sustainable benefits to the annual show allowing more visitors without damage to the environment even when the weather is inclement. The Sustainable Development Fund (SDF) is an annual fund of £175,000 that supports projects that promote a more sustainable way of living and working in and visiting the National Park, whilst conserving and enhancing our local culture, wildlife, landscape and communities. Facts and Figures The Sustainable Development Fund: is now in its 15th year of operation has given out nearly £2.67 million to 336 projects so far is open to everyone including community groups, businesses and individuals and offers money either to kick-start a project or to develop it for the good of the local community and the National Park gave out just over £175,000 in 2017-18, supporting 36 projects What types of project are given grants? Projects can be far-ranging.
